DAAM, Qatar Foundation for Social Work Sign Funding Agreement to Support Vocational Rehabilitation

The Social and Sport Contribution Fund (DAAM) and the Qatar Foundation for Social Work have signed a funding agreement to support the Vocational Rehabilitation Programme at Al Shafallah Center, reinforcing efforts to empower persons with disabilities through education, skills development and employment opportunities. 

Under the agreement, DAAM will provide financial support for a structured, competency-based vocational training programme that enables persons with disabilities to develop practical and professional skills aligned with the needs of Qatar's labour market. The initiative is designed to improve participants' employability and connect training outcomes with real job opportunities. 

Two specialised training pathways

The programme targets Al Shafallah Center members aged 15 to 20 and includes two specialised tracks.

The first track focuses on individuals with mild to moderate disabilities, providing accredited vocational qualifications tailored to labour market requirements. The second is designed for persons with severe intellectual disabilities, helping them develop workplace readiness, independent living and social adaptation skills.

The initiative also includes capacity-building programmes for Al Shafallah Center staff to ensure participants receive personalised, high-quality training based on their individual abilities and needs. 

Empowering people with disabilities

Fatima Al Saadi, Executive Director of Al Shafallah Center, described the agreement as a significant step toward strengthening vocational rehabilitation services and expanding opportunities for persons with disabilities.

She said the programme adopts a comprehensive approach by assessing each participant's strengths and interests, developing personalised training plans and working with public and private sector partners to facilitate suitable employment opportunities after graduation. 

Yousef Al Nuaimi, Director of Shared Services at DAAM, said meaningful vocational programmes play a vital role in opening employment opportunities for persons with disabilities and enabling them to contribute actively to Qatar's development.

The agreement forms part of DAAM's broader mission to support sustainable social development initiatives funded through contributions from companies listed on the Qatar Stock Exchange.

Al Shafallah Center, operating under the Qatar Foundation for Social Work, is one of Qatar's leading institutions dedicated to the rehabilitation, empowerment and social inclusion of persons with disabilities through specialised programmes that promote independence and active community participation.
